Badminton is quick. Players stop, push off and change direction all the time, so the floor needs the right grip and a little give. Too slippery and people fall; too hard and knees and ankles take the strain.
The shuttle also travels high, so most badminton courts are indoors, with enough ceiling height and lighting that doesn't shine into players' eyes. We plan the floor, the hall and the lights together.
A doubles court is 44 × 20 ft (13.40 × 6.10 m). You also need clear space around it and enough height above it.

A sprung hardwood floor with shock pads underneath. The feel most clubs and academies prefer.
A seamless polyurethane floor, including our SmashAce™ PU system: anti-skid, with precise line marking.
PVC sports mats laid on a level slab. Quick to install and a good fit for halls that are being converted.
An acrylic court for open spaces. Wind affects the shuttle, so indoor or covered courts play better.
A good badminton floor starts with a level, dry slab. Damp or uneven slabs are what make floors lift, crack or go soft, so we sort out the base before the flooring goes down.
Around the court: lighting · net posts and net · wall colours that make the shuttle easy to see

· Flooring type (wooden, PU or synthetic)
· Damp-proofing and levelling
· Lighting
· Equipment and extras

Wooden flooring gives the classic feel most clubs want. PU, like our SmashAce™ system, is seamless and easy to look after. Synthetic PVC mats are the quickest and most budget-friendly option.
For competition play, about 9 m (30 ft) of clear height. Lower halls can still work for casual play, but high shots will hit the roof more often.
Yes, with an acrylic surface. But wind pushes the shuttle around, so indoor or covered courts play much better.
Usually, yes. If the slab is level and dry, we can lay PU, synthetic or wooden flooring on it. We check this on the site visit.
Keep it clean and dry, and ask players to use non-marking indoor shoes. Wooden floors need a dry hall; PU and synthetic floors just need regular cleaning.
